As a freelance scenic painter, I've worked with Chicago studios like Means Of Production, Chicago Scenic Studios, and New Moon Productions on projects from restaurants to museum exhibitions to Wizard Of Oz-themed segways that have made their way across the country. Here are some of my favorite projects.

»» Richard III -- 2016 ««
I was charge scenic artist for this Shakespeare adaptation, and executed the fabrication and painting of the stonework, woodgraining on the floorboards, the preparation of the gradient-faded scrims in the background, and the design and painting of heraldic designs for the standards used throughout the show.
richard the third kneels on a worn wooden floor: behind him is a grey stone gateway flanked by purple heraldic standards bearing gold fleur-de-lis patterns, and a glowing white background that fades to a muddy gray. lit in blue, queen margaret addresses the members of the royal court in front of a grey stone gateway. richard the third watches one of the young princes talk with his father on a handsome set executed by scenic artist Phoebe Thatcher.

»» Margo Veil -- 2016 ««
As charge scenic artist for this student-developed production, I executed the mural work on the back wall of the set, including stencilling the big tiger face with painter's tape and a projector.
the colorful set of Margo Veil features a stage covered in paint drips, stickers and street art tags reminiscent of an abandoned warehouse. Along the back wall are several large graffiti murals including fragments resembling art from the Berlin Wall, classic bubble letters, and a giant glowing stencil of a blue and pink tiger. Performers in Margo Veil sit in front of a bright green and white bubble letter mural and a giant, angular mural of a pink and blue tiger with fluorescent eyes.
